Wow – what a wonderful first term the Kingfishers have had!
As part of our Stone Age topic the children have written some excellent story openers and character and setting descriptions based on the book ‘Stone Age Boy’.
We have been focussing on instruction writing during the latter part of the term and the children instructed me about how to make a sandwich as well as how to clean my teeth!
In maths we’ve been getting to grips with formal column methods of addition and subtraction. Please feel free to practise at home and ask word problems requiring column addition and subtraction to solve them.
Art has included cave style art and we’ve started regular philosophy sessions to ponder life’s mysteries!
Other termly highlights have included our wonderful Harvest Samba performance, a Judo taster session and the fact that we won trophies for Collaboration, Responsibility and the overall Welton Value award! Excellent work, Kingfishers!
Have a lovely half term break and please continue to read with your child as much as possible at home and remember to ask them questions about what they have read.
Also keep going with Times Table Rockstars to help increase your child’s fluency at multiplication recall. (It’s worth noting that by the end of Year 4, they should know all times tables and associated division facts!)
Many thanks for all your continued support,
Mrs Jenkins-Fry and Mrs Field
